Golden Flake Factory Tour ~ August 12, 2009

Today, we went with the Gaylard's and the Collat's to tour the local Birmingham Golden Flake Factory. It was very interesting to learn how their different products are made. We got to taste cheese puffs, cheese curls, regular potato chips, and BBQ Pork rinds - all were fresh and hot off the line. Those freshly cheesed puffs were melt in your mouth delicious! Then they sent us off with lots of free chips - great for lunches next week at school.

August 7 - 11, 2009 ~ Gulf Shores, AL
Kaylee stayed a week at my parents and then agreed to meet us in Gulf Shores to drop her back off to us. The first two days, the beach had a red flag posted and there were lots of jellyfish, so did not get to play in the water. The next day was yellow flag and lots of jellyfish, so we went to the Foley Outlet Mall and to the Track to ride Race cars and play putt-putt. We also drove out to Perdido Key, FL to meet our friends the King's for dinner. We loved their beach so we crashed in on our last day - no jellyfish! We had a good time all together!

This is what Clayton wants to fly when he grows up!

Kevin and I took the boys back to Destin, FL for a few days for more beach fun! Kaylee went to Texas to stay with Grandma for a week, so she did not come with us. It rained the first day, so we went to the Air Force Armament Museum in Eglin, FL, then the rest of the time the sun came out for some awesome beach time. Because it had been stormy, the waves were really huge out there and super fun to boogie board in! The kids certainly got wiped out a few times.

Me and the kids went to the beach with Michelle King and 2 of her kids (Aken was away at camp) to Destin, FL for 5 days (Mon - Fri). We had a really fun time for about 3 days, then Michelle's Yukon XL broke down outside of Seaside, FL. There was a problem with her transmission, so we got a tow truck to take care of her vehicle (it was under warranty), got a taxi to take us back to the condo, and put in a call to our hubbies to each bring a car and meet us in Destin on Friday. Since the men were coming Friday, we ended up renting another place for two days to enjoy our time with them over the week-end. All in all, it was a blast! I have a great time with my friend Michelle and my kids love her kids and how bad can it really be to be stranded at the beach?! The hardest thing is to pick only a few pictures to post on here out of the 100's I took, so enjoy!
