Our All Star Baseball Player, Nicholas

May 21, 2009. Nicholas is playing baseball for the Mountain Brook Metro American #2 Team (All Stars) this summer. He picked to be #3 because Babe Ruth was #3. He practices everyday and palys in a warm up tournament and two regular tournaments. Recently, he has been in a bit of a slump with his hitting and fielding, but this week-end, we tried him with a lighter bat and BABY, HE'S BACK!! He was hitting them almost out of the park. Once that happened, his self esteem came back and he is fielding better too. Anyone who wants to make it out to see him play this season, come on out!

Nicholas' Football Birthday Party ~ May 17, 2009

Wilson and Nicholas

Wilson took them in the medical room and wrapped up their "injuries".

Happy Birthday Nicholas!

Wilson and the birthday crew.

50 yard dash - Nicholas is lightning fast!

Go Nicholas Go! He could go all the way...

Nicholas was not able to have a birthday party back in March, so we had it May 17. He loves football so much that he wanted to have a football party with Mountain Brook High School's Wilson Love. Nicholas had just done the football clinic the day before so he was warmed up and ready! We had about 25 kids that made it out for the fun. Nicholas said it was the best birthday party ever!

Clayton's Football Clinic with Tyler and Wilson Love

May 16, 2009. Clayton was in the second clinic held with Tyler and Wilson Love. He had a great time hanging out with them. Clayton punts really good - so maybe one day he could be a kicker for the football team - we'll see!

Football Clinic with Tyler and Wilson Love

May 16, 2009. The kid's school auctioned off a football clinic with Tyler and Wilson Love to be held on the Spartan Field (the high school). Tyler plays for The University of Alabama and his brother, Wilson plays for Mountain Brook High School and has already been asked to play for Alabama and Vanderbilt (he will decide soon). Nicholas was very excited to be able to play with these "big" boys! They ran several drills and played some ball. There were two clinics held - a K-2nd gd one and then a 3rd -6th gd one.

Blue and Gold Banquet ~ Cub Scouts ~ May 11, 2009

The Blue and Gold Banquet is when the Cub Scouts get rewarded for all their hard work of the year. They earn their badges and get to promote to the next level. Clayton completed his Bear requirements and had to eat some "bear meat" and growl to move on to Weeblos 1. Nicholas completed his Tiger requirements and was turned upside down and stamped with a tiger paw on the backside to move on to Wolf. The boys did a really great job and had fun! Afterwards, Nicholas said he did not want to do Bear Cub Scouts because he did not want to eat bear meat - so funny!

White Sox Tournament Game

One of the boy's sister made some posters for the White Sox.

Nicholas is a great hitter.

May 9, 2009
We played the Rays for our second game of the playoff Spring Baseball tournament. We were winning for 4 innings, and lost by one point in the last inning - bummer! The boys played an awesome game though - one to be proud of! Nicholas hit really good and caught an amazing line drive to third base - his coach bought him an Icee for it. Nicholas made the All Star team (Metro) and will play through mid June, so more exciting photos to come hopefully!

1st Grade McWane Center Field Trip 5/8/09

Nicholas' first grade class went on a field trip to the McWane Center in downtown Birmingham. It is designed with kids in mind, so everything is hands on - including the Critter Corner where he got to see several animals and even pet a few of them. There was a really neat area where you could build your own race car. The car ran off a battery pack that you built a car around and then raced it on a track they had set up. I would have a cool picture of it, but it was the last thing we did and my camera battery died - bummer! Nicholas did a great job building his car!

Sweetie Pie Sundae - May 2, 2009

May 2...family fun day for the McDonald's! We won a certificate for a Sweetie Pie Sundae from Soho Sweets in Homewood, so we used it! It is a 15 scoop ice cream sundae served in a pie plate - HUGE! It was so good and so much fun. I had to take pictures of it or no one would have believed me how big it was!

Kaylee's Last Sunday Soccer Game - April 26

Kaylee was very excited to receive a medal for all her hard work during this soccer season.

Isn't she precious? Such a natural little soccer player.

Fancy footwork!

Go Kaylee Go!

Well, enough is enough, time to gab with my girl friend and fellow soccer player, Lauren. The rest of the Blue Team can handle the game. So funny!
